Staff Profiles ........
Karen Sproston / Senior Partner
Karen Sproston is in her early 40's, has 2 young daughters and lives in Manchester. She qualified in 1995 after doing her Training Contract with a firm of solicitors specialising in defendant personal injury work.
Since qualifying Karen has worked in a number of firms and has a wealth of experience of all types of PI claims, ranging from minor road traffic accidents through to accidents involving significant brain injury and paraplegia.
Karen’s interests include reading, music and animal welfare.
Mark Brierley / Partner
Mark Brierley is in his early 30s and now lives in Manchester, having moved from his place of birth Ashton-Under-Lyne. He joined Sprostons in August 2007 after completing a degree in Law at Manchester Metropolitan University.
He completed his training with Sprostons, finally
qualifying in February 2010. He
is experienced in running all types of personal injury matters.
Mark entered the legal profession after a job in the music industry as a sound recording engineer, now thats a change ..... !, rock and roll to Mozart ..... !.
He loves all types of music and more specifically making music and the art of recording it. He also loves reading, playing the guitar, eating out, and Manchester United, well everyone has a problem they have to overcome .... !
Paul Scott-Griffiths / Solicitor
Paul
has eleven years experience, and completed his training when CPR was in its
inception And is well versed in all aspects of the Civil Procedure Rules.
He has
worked in the legal arena since 1992 and constantly increased his
qualification whilst working full-time.
Paul is a very enthusiastic individual, who specialises in personal injury law, he is technically very competent in this sphere of law and always aim to achieve a high professional standard.
He enjoys listening to all types of music, going to comedy clubs, going to the
cinema, cycling and reading.
Jayne Kulic / Legal Executive
Jayne has spent the last 20+ years in the field of personal injury. She has a wealth of experience, particularly in Industrial Disease claims as well as RTA, accidents at work and public liability.
She was involved in the miners compensation claims for hearing loss, Vibration White Finger and chest disease.
Since these schemes closed she has been actively pursuing claims for professional negligence on unsettled cases and campaignsing for a beat knee scheme.
She has a son and daughter who both make sure she
doesn't have any spare time or "money".
Rachel Bennett / PA - Legal Secretary
Rachel comes from Kent the garden of the UK, but had
the great fortune and of course the hindsight of her parents to move north
to Lancashire when she was very young so avoided picking up the habits of
those southern folks.
She left school with an impressive set of grades in O
Level and no idea what she wanted to do, so she tried her hand at lots of
things, including catering and working on a farm, but found that rather cold
in the mornings, it’s always cold in Lancashire, someone should have told
her!.
Seeing she was drifting, her Mum sent her on an
intensive typing course and she moved to Manchester in her early 20s where
eventually a chance temping job led her into the legal arena over 15 years
ago.
She is married to Andy, and looks after Pacha a failed
guide dog and two cats, Molly and Henry.
Happiest when pottering around in her garden.
Adele Whiteside / Legal Secretary
Adele lives with her husband Nick in Stockport and started work at the age of 16 as an office junior whilst completing her NVQ level 2 and 3 in Business Administration.
She says "she always knew she wanted to work in an office" and has worked in the legal profession ever since.
She joined Sprostons in January 2011 as a legal secretary and says she loves the friendly warm atmosphere.
She enjoys swimming, going to the gym and letting her dog buster take her for a walk .... ! And also enjoys a little retail therapy every now and then.
Philip Davies / Legal Cashier - Financial Controller
Phil studied at Mancheser University and gained a PHD in Maths, just what you need to keep a control over the accounts for a company.
He joined Sproston's in 2005 and has become an integral part of the companies persona.
Phil enjoys cycling and has recently completed a road race, he enjoys his garden and is a keen grower of vegetables for his kitchen.
